Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications by means of the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its office, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These types of items being offered, typically online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no guarantee about their safety.

"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this might have on your health."
